RESOLVED FIXED

Description Jon Douglas [MSFT] 2015-11-18 14:05:17 UTC
*Description:

Currently MSBuild tasks need to complete before it's possible to "Cancel/Stop" a running build. This is most likely because most of the respective Tasks do not support ICancelable. This feature request is to include support for ICancelable so a build can be stopped earlier than waiting for certain Tasks to be run.

*Use-Case:

If you have a larger Android solution and you start a build and forget a few lines of code or need to stop it for another reason, you have to wait until the current Task is finished completing. Because of this it can take anywhere from 30-90 seconds to complete. Ideally one should be able to just stop the Build at any time and have it stop within a decent time-frame(5-10s).

*Reproduction:

1. Take a larger solution from either a Prebuilt-App or MonoDroid-Samples

https://github.com/xamarin/prebuilt-apps

https://github.com/xamarin/monodroid-samples

2. Run the Project

3. Attempt to Stop the Build

4. Time how long it takes until you can actually Cancel/Stop the Build

I can't reproduce this any longer. It seems that it responds now as expected.
