Description Jon Goldberger [MSFT] 2015-10-21 16:13:10 UTC
## Description

With a control in a UITableViewCell in a UITableViewController, if I set a constraint (with or without Size Classes enabled for the storyboard) I can't edit the constraint whether I double click the constraint from the control's Layout tab or select the constraint on the canvas. Sometimes the Widget tab does not show up, or the widget tab does show up but does not show the value for the constraint that you can edit, it only shows Name, Class, Module, and Localization ID fields.

## Steps to reproduce.

1. Open Visual Studio (I tested in VS 2015) and create a new iOS Universal Single View App project.

2. Open the storyboard and add a Table View Controller.

3. Drag a control (tested with Label and Button) to the UITableViewCell

4. Add a constraint to the UITableViewCell.

5. Select the constraint and open the Widget tab of the Properties pane.

Expected result: I can edit the value for the constraint.

Actual result: There is no field for editing the value.

6. Now select the control you added in step 3.

7. Select the Layout tab in the Properties pane.

8. Double click on the constraint created in step 4.

Expected result: Widget tab for the constraint will open allowing editing of the constraint.

Actual result: Widget tab is not selected and trying to select the Widget tab does not work. Also after step 8, I can no longer access the Widget tab for the constraint no matter how I select the constraint.

## Correction to steps to reproduce:

4. Add a constraint to the UITableViewCell.

should be:

4. Add a constraint to the control.

## Additional notes:

On the current Stable channel version info below), following the steps to reproduce causes Visual Studio to crash. I am guessing this might be due to the old build host vs. XMA, so I suspect the underlying issue is the same. Let me know, though, and I will file a new bug report for the issue with Visual Studio crashing in this scenario.

I have checked this issue with latest stable builds i.e XVS 3.11.1537 + XI 9.0.1.29 and observe that when I go to step 5 given the bug description then a pop up window display "Microsoft Visual Studio ..... has stopped working".
Comment 9 Matthew Orlando 2015-10-30 15:18:52 UTC
Just came across this behavior and wanted to share my observation.

I only get this crash if the Properties panel was already on the Layout tab and then you switch to the Widget tab. This is always the case with the "double click the constraint to edit it" flow described in earlier comments.

If, instead, you go to the widget tab first, select the constraint in either the designer window or the Document outline, then editing the constraint works.
Comment 10 Matthew Orlando 2015-10-30 15:26:33 UTC
Err I stand corrected. Editing the constraint is still impossible (only the Identity section of the properties panel is visible), but it avoids the crash.
Comment 11 PJ 2015-11-02 17:56:25 UTC
We're in the unfortunate situation of moving all bugs that are not actively regressions from the current release to the next release milestone.

This still fails, but the behavior on Stable is a crash. Since that's a net improvement, it's not a regression and therefore is being moved to C6SR1.
Comment 12 Alan McGovern 2016-01-14 11:29:15 UTC
This should be fixed by https://github.com/xamarin/md-addins/commit/6de646a8e27c080b79ecc95213655d53465e4758
Comment 13 Oleg Demchenko 2016-03-05 00:28:07 UTC
Moving milestone to C7
Comment 14 Alan McGovern 2016-03-07 09:52:02 UTC
Out of curiousity why is the milestone being changed on closed bugs like this? I'd rather not do this as a general thing.
Comment 15 Atin 2016-05-19 12:46:03 UTC
I have checked this issue with latest build of Cycle 7 i.e. Xamarin.VisualStudio_4.1.0.507_000e88e1cf43a5d7d0699a6a33ea949e45f3db7d and onow this issue is working fine.

Screencast: http://www.screencast.com/t/NFqwxVAMjP

Hence I am closing this issue.

Thanks!
