I have checked this issue and its working fine.
Environment info: https://gist.github.com/Parmendrak/ba2ef53282883c383751
@Parmendra, according to your Environment info, it looks like you are on Xamarin Studio 5.11 / Xamarin.iOS 188.8.131.522. As of Nov. 30, 2015, the Alpha channel only provides 5.10.1 / Xamarin.iOS 184.108.40.206 and does not appear to be fixed.
This has been broken for nearly 3 months now. Will this bug be fixed any time soon? This is a very essential feature!
@William, the bug is fixed (I fixed it last week), but it takes a while until it reaches a public channel. Unfortunately at this moment we don't have any dates when it will become public either.
Is there a workaround for now?
Is it possible to merge this fix into XS 5.10 / X.iOS 9.2?
We need it very much to test background fetch in our app
@Igor, the intention is to get it into a XI 9.2 service release.
It would be great. But when? May be faster in alpha channel?
We don't have a time yet, but it will show up in alpha first.
Any news as to when it will show up in Alpha as this is a rather BIG setback for applications that rely on background fetch not being able to implement new features from iOS 9.
Workaround: launch it from xCode:
1. Run debug session in XS
2. Open any project in xCode (I used 7.1.1)
3. Attach debugger to running process (Menu->Debug->Attach To Process). It is easy to find it by application name.
4. Wait for xCode debug connection is ready
5. Now it is possible select Menu->Debug->Simulate Background Fetch
It's work! Thanks
And I also think that such kind of fixes should be delivered to customers as hotfix in the nearest update.
To many times we see answers like "we fixed but we don't have any idea when the fixed version will be published".
@canab, doesn't seem to work for me - I am correct in assuming that in XC we are attaching to the Xamarin Studio process?
@Jayden Spring: No, I attached xCode to the process of developed iOS Application which is running in a simulator.
Meant to the Process not XS, apologies. However even attaching to the process itself I am getting in the device log the following when triggering a BG refresh:
- Tried to send event "BackgroundContentFetching" to a process that has no bundle ID
Background transfer works for me in the current alpha channel:
Xamarin studio 6.0 build 4968
Xamarin ios 220.127.116.11
Good ol' "same day support". :D
