Description carlosga05 2012-02-13 12:11:44 UTC
While testing an xml signatures implementation ( for the spanish electronic invoice format, factura-e ) i have noticed a possible bug on System.Security.Cryptography.Xml.KeyInfo.GetXml method that doesn't generates the Id attribute on the resulting xml element.

The same code in microsoft .net 2.0/3.5/4.0 does generates the Id Attribute.

Example code:

X509Certificate2 cert = new X509Certificate2(a_certificate, cert_password);

KeyInfo keyInfo = new KeyInfo();

keyInfo.Id = "Signature-20120213-KeyInfo20120213";

keyInfo.AddClause(new KeyInfoX509Data(cert));
keyInfo.AddClause(new RSAKeyValue((RSA)cert.PrivateKey));

string xml = keyInfo.GetXml().OuterXml;

( it shows differences on XML namespace generation too )

result on microsoft .net (certificate and key values removed):

<KeyInfo Id="Signature-20120213-KeyInfo20120213" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#">
  <X509Data>
    <X509Certificate>...</X509Certificate>
  </X509Data>
  <KeyValue>
    <RSAKeyValue>
      <Modulus>...</Modulus>
      <Exponent>...</Exponent>
    </RSAKeyValue>
  </KeyValue>
</KeyInfo>

result on mono (certificate and key values removed):

<KeyInfo xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#">
	<X509Data xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#">
		<X509Certificate>.....</X509Certificate>
	</X509Data>
	<KeyValue xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#">
		<RSAKeyValue>
			<Modulus>...</Modulus>
			<Exponent>...</Exponent>
		</RSAKeyValue>
	</KeyValue>
</KeyInfo>
