RESOLVED FIXED

Description Falko Schindler 2015-09-17 05:00:11 UTC
The following code creates a MasterDetail page with a button on the gray Master page. Pressing the button pushes a yellow modal page.

MainPage = new MasterDetailPage {
    Master = new ContentPage {
        Title = "Master",
        BackgroundColor = Color.Gray,
        Content = new Button {
            Text = "Push",
            Command = new Command(o => MainPage.Navigation.PushModalAsync(new ContentPage {
                BackgroundColor = Color.Yellow,
            })),
        },
    },
    Detail = new ContentPage(),
    IsPresented = true,
};

In general, the modal page is pushed in *front* of the Master page. But on an iPad in portrait mode it's pushed *behind* the Master page, which looks rather ugly.

Sure, I can programmatically close the Master page. But it's somehow annoying and at least an inconsistent behavior.

Test Case

Attaching a project to test with.

To reproduce:

1. Launch in portrait on an iPad simulator
2. Press the Menu button
3. Press the Open Modal button in the Master/menu area.

Notice that the modal is presented behind the Master. Press the Back button and a crash will occur with 1.5.1-pre2.

Good news: in Xamarin Forms 2.0 this problem not occurred. Tested in iOS 8.4 and 9. Maybe is best suggest users migrate to 2.0 version and finish this issue.
