Repro:
* Open a project
* Edit Preferences -> .Net Assembly
* Paste a directory name into the text box.
* Hit enter: nothing happens. I expect the dialog to navigate to the directory.
* Append the name of the dll manually to the directory name in the text box, see how it's autocompleted.
* Hit enter: nothing happens. Click the OK button: dialog is dismissed, but the reference isn't added. I'd expect the reference to be added in this case.

That's the GTK file browser.

TBH the whole panel needs rewriting, we should probably have a button to open a native file dialog. The embedded file browser is clunky.
