Demo of the described bug

Programmatically changing the MasterBehavior property of a MasterDetail page under Android has no effect.

See attached project for a demo - I'm expecting the "Change split behavior" button to toggle between the Split and Popover behaviors.

I don't really see how this is an enhancement rather than a bug...

Just took a peek at the MasterDetailPage code for handling a change in MasterBehavior. Literally all it does is enable and disable the ability to change IsPresented:

internal static void UpdateMasterBehavior(MasterDetailPage page)
{
    if (page.ShouldShowSplitMode)
    {
        page.SetValueCore(IsPresentedProperty, true);
        if (page.MasterBehavior != MasterBehavior.Default)
            page.CanChangeIsPresented = false;
    }
}
