I am closing this issue as it has been fixed in later updates of Xamarin.Forms. 

I also just wanted to make a note that this issue is not related to the Mobile API directly, but rather to Xamarin.Forms. It may have been a result of the Android Support libraries not being installed properly or the linker removing members.
