Description Jon Goldberger [MSFT] 2015-07-10 16:44:57 UTC
## Description

If the iPhoneSimulator configuration maps to to deploy to an iPhone and the iPhone configuration maps to deploy to an iPhoneSimulator, the device selector flashes between the device and the simulator every half second or so.

I realize the configuration should not be set this way, but it is still causes odd behavior and caused confusion for at least one customer.

## Steps to reproduce

1. Open Visual Studio 2013 and create a new iOS Unified Universal Single View app.

2. Right click on the solution in the Solution Explorer and choose "Properties."

3. Go to the Configuration Properties->Configuration settings page.

4. For Platform at the top, select "iPhoneSimulator" and then in App1 (or whatever your projects name is) select "iPhone" for the platform (Yes, I know this does not make sense to do) and click "Apply"

5. Then select "iPhone" for Platform at the top and then in App1 select "iPhoneSimulator" for the platform and click "Apply"

6. Close the properties dialog. Select Release for the configuration.

Expected result: Honestly I do not know what would be expected, but the actual result is weird.

Actual result: Device selector drop down switches every half second or so between "Device" and the selected iPhone Simulator. Also if you open the Solution Properties->Configuration Properties->Configuration settings page the dialog flashes. See screencast.

Currently we are not planning to support this particular scenario, given that it's a very strange and unusual configuration case, and giving support to it would mean to make a lot of core changes.
