Repro project

*** Overview ***
When an Activity has an ExitTransition and android:windowAllowEnterTransitionOverlap is set to true, the ExitTransition animation runs while also fading out when the new Activity enters.

This is in contrast to when an Activity has a ReturnTransition and android:windowAllowReturnTransitionOverlap is also ‘true’. In this scenario the animation runs without fading out.

*** Steps to Reproduce ***
1. Run the attached repro project
2. Press the button to navigate between the activities

*** Actual Results ***
The exiting Activity runs its ExitTransition(towards the bottom in this case) but also fades away at the same time. Because of this the animation is only briefly visible.

However, if the back button is pressed the Activity’s ReturnTransition animations runs without fading out. It looks like ExitTransition is the only one that demonstrates the fading behavior.

Is this a bug?

Please write a Java+Android app and see if you observe the same behavior. If you do, at best it's an Android bug, but it's not a Xamarin bug.

Java android sample

A Java Android app shows the same behavior (see attached project) so it is not a Xamarin bug.

However, it is possible to control the duration of the fade with Window.TransitionBackgroundFadeDuration in order to make the transition more visible.

Closing as UPSTREAM, as this is Android's behavior.
