Description Stephen Rawlins 2015-06-15 15:59:12 UTC
I can run tests on a Simulator, but when I try to run on an attached iPad, the StartUp fails with:

The Startup Method is:

		[SetUp]
		public void BeforeEachTest ()
		{
			// TODO: If the iOS app being tested is included in the solution then open
			// the Unit Tests window, right click Test Apps, select Add App Project

				.StartApp();

			//app.Repl();
		}

Rasmus K-L helped me get over this hurdle. Upgrading to Xamarin.UITest 0.8.0.183-dev (via NuGet Add Packages) has solved the issue for me.

I'm not sure what I was doing wrong before, but I know that:

1. I had, on the iPad, Settings/Developer/Enable UI Automation
2.  I had a valid API key in my ConfigureApp.iOS.InstalledApp().ApiKey().StartApp();

When running on device, I am using the `InstalledApp()` (vs. `AppBundle`) to identify my target program, which is already installed on the iPad device.

I have checked this issue and I am also getting same behaviour as mentioned in bug description.

Here are my Setup Method

               [SetUp]
		public void Setup()
		{
			app = ConfigureApp.Debug ().iOS.EnableLocalScreenshots ().InstalledApp ("com.xamarin.Notification").DeviceIp ("Device_Wifi_ip).ApiKey (APIKEY).StartApp ();
               }

When I tried to run this issue with pre release version of Xamarin.UITest: 0.8.0.208-dev

I am getting following error:
SetUp:System.Exception: Instrument Failed to start the app.
Comment 4 Stephen Rawlins 2015-07-06 11:10:47 UTC
Upgrading to Xamarin.UITest 0.8.0.183-dev (via NuGet Add Packages) solved the issue for me.

On the Xamarin Forums, Rasmus K-L of Xamarin suggested that I upgrade to what was then the preview version 183.

I am hitting this issue, running Xamarin.UITest 1.0.0 on an iOS 8.3 iPhone 5S.

Setup:
> app = ConfigureApp.iOS.DeviceIdentifier(deviceId).InstalledApp("com.xamarin.Triggers").EnableLocalScreenshots ().StartApp ();

I am also seeing this error with Xamarin.UiTest 1.1.1, iOS 9, and iPhone 5s.
Comment 7 Matt Gerber 2015-10-02 12:04:28 UTC
Fixed this error by removing /var/folders/pp/**/uitest/ directory.
