--HOW TO REPLICATE
When i added a new storyboard via File > New > MonoTouch > Empty iPhone Storyboard and i opened this in XCode i noticed that the viewcontrollers were sized like IPAD views.

--RESEARCH
I checked the generated storyboard file in MonoDevelop (rightclick > open with > Source Code Editor) and i noticed that on line 2 it said:

targetRuntime="iOS.CocoaTouch.iPad"

Since i selected the IPHONE storyboard option this is the wrong value.

--SOLUTION
I manually changed the file to contain the following on line 2:

targetRuntime="iOS.CocoaTouch"

That worked and seems to indicatie the iPhone viewsize.

Can you please fix the value for the iPhone storyboard temptaties so that the right viewsize is generated?

Fixed in git master and will back-port to 2.8.6 branch as well.
