RESOLVED FIXED

Description Torbjörn Kalin 2012-01-24 15:30:27 UTC
Description of Problem:

The Monodroid development environment is half Swedish, half English. Although I am a Swede, I would prefer it to be all English since my operating system and all other applications are in English.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

My guess is that the installation package chooses language based on the regional settings. I usually change those settings before installing anything, but forgot to do i this time.

I strongly suggest that you let the user choose language. Very few Swedish developers want their development environment to be in Swedish and no one wants a development environment where only half of the resources are localized.

(Apart from that I have great hopes for your product! Java is just too old and unproductive to use. I've tried to use Scala but had too many technical issues making it work with Android. C# is fresh and Monodroid looks really easy to use.)

You can change the UI language here: http://screencast.com/t/KojkaI09

That's a very good point about partial localizations. MonoDevelop has many user-contributed localizations that have not been kept up to date, for example the Swedish translation has about 900/3000 translated strings. We should disable these until they are updated.

We have a new team handling translations here at Microsoft and we're only shipping complete translations so this should be fixed now.
