Description obadz 2015-05-05 06:10:09 UTC
On NixOS, Mono and the F# compilers live in their own, immutable, directories. There exists a directory that is created, using symbolic link, that is the union of the two folders.

However, xbuild does not let me override MSBuildExtensionsPath to that folder (or any other value for that matter):

export MSBuildExtensionsPath=/run/current-system/sw/lib/mono/xbuild
xbuild /p:MSBuildExtensionsPath=/run/current-system/sw/lib/mono/xbuild /v:diag

Shows:

MSBuildExtensionsPath = /nix/store/fjhziv1gppqk40z4h19m149sbga1n20a-mono-4.0.1/lib/mono/xbuild
MSBuildExtensionsPath32 = /nix/store/fjhziv1gppqk40z4h19m149sbga1n20a-mono-4.0.1/lib/mono/xbuild
MSBuildExtensionsPath64 = /nix/store/fjhziv1gppqk40z4h19m149sbga1n20a-mono-4.0.1/lib/mono/xbuild

Since the F# targets aren't available in the Mono folder, this makes it basically impossible to build any F# projects on NixOS without hacking the fsproj files.

Expected behavior: we should be able to override MSBuildExtensionsPath via both the environment variable and the /p command line arg.
