RESOLVED FIXED

Description Izerian 2015-03-21 01:05:29 UTC
Description of Problem:
I've read nearly every single combination of search'd articles and/or blogs, howto's, forum posts or whatnot. (My search history is literally purple, i.e. clicked on and read) I'm using whatever version of Xamarin Forms. It doesn't matter what version... stable, beta, alpha as of 3/21/2015.

NOTHING works to scale an iOS image. There's conflicting information EVERYwhere about what image needs to be in what directory, "oh wait you need to use Universal" blah blah @ symbol. As you can tell, it's seriously frustrating to spend all this money and have the simplest of mechanisms not work. It's an image. I'd like it to scale properly. It simply doesn't. The Xamarin IDE even blows up when you try to set a BackgroundImage to an Image. (God forbid)

Oh, use an .xib? Nope, the application won't edit it, it crashes.

Oh, add additional images to an asset catalog for a launch image? (at the very least) Nope! Error when saving the .json project.

What the hell? I'm being serious. VERY tired of wasting time with all this. Frustration x100000f

From the stable branch on my mac, I can go to a new forms app... It has android and iOS projects, fine whatever. I'm unable to supposedly "scale" a background image to a device. This is a stock project template build on an iPhone 6+ and it does not work.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. File -> New -> Mobile -> Portable Forms

Actual Results:
little tiny image in some odd offset of the screen

Expected Results:
an image that fits my freggin device?

How often does this happen?
EVERY SINGLE TIME, without fail?

Additional Information:
You don't want to know my additional information, I'm so frustrated. The app / forms etc works. It's shippable if I could only GET FREGGIN IMAGES TO WORK!

P.S. Dev, I'm sorry. I'm pissed. This platform is so expensive and yet falls so short.

P.S. I really don't mean to sound like a dick, Xamarin has so much potential. I just feel like I've wasted a month of my (and client's) time given that imaging (specifically background) does not work. Maybe it does work... Your documentation needs some details, to say the least.

I believe this is fixed in latest version of Xamarin.Forms.(notice that this was filed under Xamarin Studio-AddIn and not Forms)
