## Overview

We have a report of an issue in Forms for iOS when using Google Maps. A custom renderer has been created and Map.VisibleRegion is called, but remains null on iOS.

I have confirmed this issue. Putting a breakpoint on line 77 of the App.cs file will allow you to observe the value of VisibleRegion when the 'Marker' button in the app is clicked. On Android, the value is 'Xamarin.Forms.Maps.MapSpan' while on iOS is it simply 'null'.


## Steps to reproduce

1. Download sample app
2. Run on an Android device/emulator set up with Google Play Services
3. Click on 'Marker'
4. Break point at line 77 should be hit: check value of VisibleRegion on line 79
5. Run on iOS
6. Click on 'Marker'
7. Break point at line 77 should be hit: check value of VisibleRegion on line 79


## Expected results

Value of VisibleRegion should be the same in both iOS and Android (Xamarin.Forms.Maps.MapSpan)


## Actual results

Value of VisibleRegion is 'null' on iOS and 'Xamarin.Forms.Maps.MapSpan' on Android

On iOS the custom renderer is derived from ViewRenderer and not MapRenderer. This means it is the job of the renderer to update all and any properties needed. You probably mean to derive from MapRenderer.

On Android you are calling SetNativeControl needlessly. The Control is set up for you by the renderer.
