Description Marco 2015-01-29 06:36:54 UTC
After some operations on a storyboard, the "Document Outline" stop to works! It appears empty or with repeated and wrong elements.

I need to close and reopen the storyboard to solve the problem.

My config is:

Visual studio 2013 PRO Update 4.
Xamarin 3.9.274
Comment 1 Naqeeb 2015-01-29 10:14:19 UTC
I have tried this issue but not able to reproduce it. To reproduce this issue I have followed steps mentioned below :

1. Create a iPhone Single View app in VS.
2. Open storyboard designer file.
3. Drag some controls like Button, label etc on it.
4. Perform some operations on a storyboard.
5. Open document outline window.

I observed that after performing some operation on a storyboard, "Document Outline" is not appear empty and working fine. Here is the screencast for the same: http://www.screencast.com/t/ddL6MgNhXiGR

Could you please provide us steps to reproduce ? Or please let me know that what steps I am missing/wrong to reproduce this issue. That would be very helpful to reproduce this issue at our end.

I'm not sure, but I've noticed that sometime this error happens when I copy and paste a View Controller (usually these View controller have the same Class and the same StoryboardID until I change the values for the new storyboard).

I hope this help you
Comment 3 Alan McGovern 2015-02-01 20:39:33 UTC
Marco, sorry we didn't request this immediately, but the next time this error occurs in VS could you get the log files by clicking Help -> Zip Log Directory and then attach the resulting file to this bug report. You can click the 'private attachment' button when adding the file to keep it internal to xamarin. That will hopefully have enough information to figure out what is going wrong.

Thanks!

I added an image of my visual studio and the log after the problem with the document outline!

I hope it will help you to solve the problem!
Thanks
Comment 7 Alan McGovern 2015-02-05 05:47:58 UTC
Thanks, this should be enough information for us to work with.
Comment 8 Vinicius Jarina 2015-02-26 20:07:56 UTC
This callstack shows a NRE from Insights, not sure if is a designer fault.
Comment 9 Alex Corrado [MSFT] 2015-02-27 16:28:26 UTC
We can ignore the NRE from Insights.

Here's something we might care about though:

Comment 10 Alan McGovern 2015-03-03 11:42:05 UTC
I pulled that into a separate bug report: https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=27602.

I'm going to close this issue as no-one can reproduce the underlying issue. It's possible it was fixed by this commit: https://github.com/mono/xwt/commit/dc6cf1f122120984fb74f92047f1030fccfc823e
