This bug seems to occur with samples written with old extension templates. With XVS 3.8.151 and Xamarin.iOS 8.4.6, extension projects build and deploy successfully on device.

However, extension projects written with old templates for example: PhotoFilter, SingleKeyBoardExtension from monotouch-samples repo causes VS to crash with XVS 3.9.142 and Xamarin.iOS 8.6.0.21

The samples that have two flavor GUIDs should be fixed manually.

That is an invalid configuration for XS too.

I have checked this issue now VS does not crash.

Environment info:

Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2012
Version 11.0.61030.00 Update 4
Microsoft .NET Framework
Version 4.5.50938

Installed Version: Professional

Xamarin 3.9.203.0
Xamarin.Android 4.20.0.34
Xamarin.iOS 8.6.0.0

Hence closing this issue.
