RESOLVED FIXED

Description troywillmot 2014-12-02 18:11:15 UTC
Sometimes when quitting a WP app built with Forms (using the back button), I get the following unhandled exception which seems to be from Xamarin and not my code. Note, I have used the Xamarin.Forms.Device.StartTimer method to start some 5 minutes timers earlier in the app. The timers are supposed to stop themselves at appropriate times, but because of the design pattern used by Xamarin for this API I can't explicitly stop them before quitting. These timers may relate to this error.

I have checked this issue but I am unable to reproduce this behavior.

Steps I followed:

1. Create an Blank app( Xamarin.Forms Portable)
2. Add a new class to portable project(ClockViewModel)
3. Write the following code in ClockViewModel class.

    class ClockViewModel : INotifyPropertyChanged
    {
        DateTime dateTime;

        public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged;

        public ClockViewModel()
        {
            this.DateTime = DateTime.Now;

            Device.StartTimer(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1), () =>
                {
                    this.DateTime = DateTime.Now;
                    return true;
                });
        }

        public DateTime DateTime
        {
            set
            {
                if (dateTime != value)
                {
                    dateTime = value;

                    if (PropertyChanged != null)
                    {
                        PropertyChanged(this,
                            new PropertyChangedEventArgs("DateTime"));
                    }
                }
            }
            get
            {
                return dateTime;
            }
        }
    }

4. Add a new Xaml page to Portable project (name=ClockView).
5. Write the following code in newly added xaml page.

   <ContentPage xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
             xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
             xmlns:local="clr-namespace:App85;assembly=App85"
             x:Class="App85.ClockView"
             Title="Clock View">
  <Label Text="{Binding DateTime,StringFormat='{0:T}'}" Font="Large" HorizontalOptions="Center" VerticalOptions="Center">
    <Label.BindingContext>
      <local:ClockViewModel />
    </Label.BindingContext>
  </Label>
</ContentPage>

6. In App.cs file navigate to ClockView page.
7. Build and deploy application to device/emulator.
8. Press the back button of device.

When I deploy the project to the and press the back button I observed that I am not getting any error or exception and my application is working fine.
