RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 26

Description Miguel de Icaza [MSFT] 2011-07-20 17:14:38 UTC
One of our customers is reporting these problems:

I have a problem where MonoDevelop keeps picking the wrong network
adaptor; a virtual network adaptor created by parallels. I keep having to
reboot my router to get the ip address right, which only lasts for about 5
minutes if at all. I tried setting the ip directly in the package, but
that was ignored, and wouldn't work anyway as we use DHCP, and the IP
changes.
Comment 1 Rolf Bjarne Kvinge [MSFT] 2011-07-20 18:20:37 UTC
We just pick the first ip available on the machine, no logic besides that to select a particular ip.

But if we pick one ip, no matter how smart we try to be, there will always be cases where we pick the wrong one, so I suggest we just give all of them to the application. The application on the device can then try to connect to each ip, eventually it'll find the right one.

Does that sound good?

This is related to #26, resolving as duplicate of that since that bug has more information and ideas to fix.
