Description Miha Markic 2014-11-18 02:42:59 UTC
Today I've installed the latest iOS beta channel update (I'm on beta) and suddenly I can't debug Android applications anymore (both VS and Xam Studio). The application starts, pauses for a second or so and then screen goes black on device (testing on Genymotion and Android AVD). Visual Studio eventually throws an exception (on Genymotion, on AVD after stopping emulator):

Error initializing the debugger: Mono.Debugging.Soft.ConnectionException: Could not connect to the debugger. ---> Mono.Debugger.Soft.VMDisconnectedException: Exception of type 'Mono.Debugger.Soft.VMDisconnectedException' was thrown.

I am having the same issue but I am using Xamarin Studio on Mac (beta channel). Happens when trying to debug to a real device or using Genymotion. I see my splash screen and a couple seconds later it goes black and just hangs. I am not seeing a stack trace (that could be a VS thing). All I see in the Application Output is this:
[monodroid-debug] Trying to initialize the debugger with options: --debugger-agent=transport=dt_socket,loglevel=0,address=127.0.0.1:8834,server=y,embedding=1
[Mono] Image addref mscorlib[0xb7fcd1d8] -> mscorlib.dll[0xb7fcc598]: 1
[Mono] AOT module 'mscorlib.dll.so' not found: dlopen failed: library "/data/data/x4iQ.x4iQ/lib/mscorlib.dll.so" not found
[Mono] Assembly mscorlib[0xb7fcd1d8] added to domain RootDomain, ref_count=1

I don't know if it was an iOS update that caused the issue. I have been working on another project for a few days and just this morning updated Xamarin. It took updates to all components that claimed to have "debugging improvements".

XS: 5.5.4 (build 14)
iOS: 8.4.0.43
Android: 4.20.0.26

It seems fixed with the latest beta channel update (3.8.150.0 probably)
