RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 24083

Description softlion 2014-11-10 05:06:03 UTC
Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.Personal) returns /var/mobile/Documents/ when the app is compiled for AppStore (at least). As this folder is readonly, the app crashes and is rejected by apple.

It should instead return the same value returned by NSFileManager.DefaultManager.GetUrls(NSSearchPathDirectory.DocumentDirectory, NSSearchPathDomain.User);

On ios7.1 device Environment.GetFolderPath... returns:
/private/var/mobile/Applications/D9B3E7DA-E3FD-4A70-9A6F-026876AF6FE9/Documents

And GetUrls(NSSearchPathDirectory.DocumentDirectory... returns:
/var/mobile/Applications/D9B3E7DA-E3FD-4A70-9A6F-026876AF6FE9/Documents

Which is different, but not annoying. On ios 8.1/iphone 6 GetFolderPath returns:
/var/mobile/Documents

Which is a real problem.

Using Xamarin.iOS 8.4.0.0
Comment 2 Sebastien Pouliot 2014-11-10 08:38:28 UTC
This will be part of our upcoming 8.4.x service release.

An immediate workaround is described in here: http://developer.xamarin.com/guides/ios/application_fundamentals/working_with_the_file_system/
