RESOLVED FIXED

Description David Roth 2011-12-09 07:11:47 UTC
When using Monodevelop on MacOSX it does not allow to rename files when only changing the casing of a character.

Example:

- ActionExtensions.cs

Try to rename the file to ACTIONExtensions.cs

Monodevelop will show an error popup with the following message: "File or directory name is already in use, please choose a different one".

This has been fixed in git. There is one remaining issue which is triggered when a file is renamed but only the casing chages. In this scenario if the file is open, it is automatically closed. I need to look into this to see if it can be worked around.

These fixes should make MonoDevelop 2.8.6 or higher. They did not make it in time for 2.8.5.

I'm still seeing this issue in 2.8.8.3. Should this not be the case?
Comment 6 Alan McGovern 2012-04-02 10:21:18 UTC
Does this happen on all files or just for some? I verified this as fixed a while ago, just retesting it now.
Comment 7 Eric Beisecker 2012-04-02 10:23:45 UTC
I guess I'm changing Folder names and not file names. Want a new Bug for Folder Renaming?
Comment 8 Alan McGovern 2012-04-02 10:24:13 UTC
That'd be perfect, thanks!
