### Description

NetworkReachability should return the current status of a given network even after network changes occur, and this behavior is confirmed on a physical device running iOS 8/8.1. However, if you run on a physical device running iOS 7.x, the software will always return the original status, and not the status which reflects the current state.

### Test Case

Attached

### Steps to Reproduce NOTE: This must be done on a Physical Device, Simulator will NOT work

1. Open attached test case
2. Build and Deploy to a physical device
3. Popup will display network available
4. Background the app
5. Activate Airplane Mode
6. Refocus the App
7. Notice that the App continues to say network available

### Expected Results

On Step 7, it should state that the network is unavailable, as Airplane mode is on. This is the behavior that occurs on iOS 8.

I have checked this issue and able to reproduce this. To reproduce this issue I have followed the steps provided in bug description.

My observation are:

On iOS 7.1 device: I observed that when I run the application on iOS 7.1 device then a popup appear and shows "Network available", I also observed that when I background the app and activate Airplane Mode, now Refocus the App notice that the App continues to says "Network available".

On iOS 8 device: I observed that when I run the application on iOS 8 device then a popup appear and shows "Network available", I also observed that when I background the app and activate Airplane Mode, now Refocus the App notice that the App says "Unable to connect to internet. Please enable internet and try again".

Comment 3 Paola Villarreal 2014-11-28 13:22:59 UTC
I was not able to reproduce the issue.

I think an Xcode project would be ideal to test this on iOS 7
Comment 4 Miguel de Icaza [MSFT] 2014-12-01 14:59:17 UTC
Hey guys,

One data point: we only offer a thin wrapper around the native APIs so the issue might just be an iOS behavior issue beyond our control.
Comment 5 Paola Villarreal 2014-12-02 15:13:19 UTC
@Miguel: Indeed, that is why i will have a objc test to proof that soon. :)
Comment 6 Paola Villarreal 2014-12-17 14:55:03 UTC
Working on ObjC proof.
Comment 7 Paola Villarreal 2014-12-17 20:15:37 UTC
So, the issue is neither iOS nor Xamarin.iOS.

What happens is that the Reachability code needs to be called inside the Main Thread in iOS 7 but not in iOS 8.

Wrapping the calls with InvokeOnMainThread is a valid workaround.

Closing this bug.
Comment 8 Paola Villarreal 2014-12-17 21:19:16 UTC
Taking a deeper look, it is not correct to say that NetworkReachability code needs to be called inside the mainthread on iOS 7. What is correct is that it needs to be called inside the thread that it was scheduled from:

adHocWiFiNetworkReachability.Schedule(CFRunLoop.Current, CFRunLoop.ModeDefault);

It just happens that CFRunLoop.Current is the main thread. :)
