Description Rob Hull 2014-09-30 11:26:00 UTC
Generated in release build only
Comment 1 Rob Hull 2014-09-30 11:39:07 UTC
This occurred during packaging. Additional build warning: Found conflicts between different version of the same dependent assembly. (MSB3247) Here is the section of C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\Android\Xamarin.Android.Common.targets pertaining to the warning:

  <ResolveAssemblyReference
      AllowedAssemblyExtensions="$(AllowedReferenceAssemblyFileExtensions)"
      AssemblyFiles="@(ResolvedUserAssemblies)"
      FindDependencies="True"
      FindRelatedFiles="False"
      FindSatellites="True"
      SearchPaths="$(AssemblySearchPaths)"
      TargetFrameworkMoniker="$(TargetFrameworkMoniker)"
      TargetFrameworkMonikerDisplayName="$(TargetFrameworkMonikerDisplayName)"
      TargetFrameworkDirectories="$(TargetFrameworkDirectory)">
    <Output TaskParameter="SatelliteFiles" ItemName="_AndroidResolvedSatellitePaths"/>
  </ResolveAssemblyReference>
Comment 2 Rob Hull 2014-09-30 13:01:26 UTC
The section of C:\Program Files
(x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\Android\Xamarin.Android.Common.targets where the error occurred follows (at the AddTrialSplashScreenResources tag - note that we have an Indie license):

<Target Name="_AddTrialSplashScreenResources"
  Condition="'$(AndroidApplication)'!='' And $(AndroidApplication)"
  Outputs="$(MonoAndroidResDirIntermediate)\values\styles.xml">
  <AddTrialSplashScreenResources
  	ResourceDirectory="$(MonoAndroidResDirIntermediate)">
  	<Output TaskParameter="StylesXmlGenerated" ItemName="TrialSplashStylesXmlGenerated" />
  </AddTrialSplashScreenResources>
  <CreateItem Include="$(TrialSplashStylesXmlGenerated)">
	<Output TaskParameter="Include" ItemName="FileWrites"/>
  </CreateItem>
</Target>
Comment 3 Rob Hull 2014-09-30 13:04:20 UTC
edit: I meant that the error occurs at the AddTrialSplashScreenResources 'node', not 'tag'

We have checked with Indie License and packaging is working fine.
Could you please provide us the test steps you followed. If possible please
attach a small complete project that demonstrates this behavior.

Also can you please add the logs from the following places?:
On XS IDE Log Location: XS>Help> Open Log Directory> IDE.log file (with latest
timestamp)
AndroidTools log: XS->Help->Open Log Directory->AndroidTools.log

If using VS,
IDE log: Location: C:\User\AppData\Local\Xamarin\Log\
(Devenev file with latest timestamp)
Android Trace log: Location: \AppData\Local\Xamarin\Log\XamarinAndroid
Comment 5 Jonathan Pryor 2014-10-01 14:48:10 UTC
> Found conflicts between different version of the same dependent assembly.

That sounds like a version mismatch somewhere.

Have you restarted your IDE instance installing Xamarin.Android?

Could you please try closing all IDE instances, uninstalling Xamarin.Android, and re-installing it?
