Showing MasterDetail with wrongly sized toolbar

When I use a Xamarin.Forms MasterDetail page and the device is oriented in landscape mode, the toolbar is incorrectly sized.

In iOS 7, the first icon is out of the visible area. In iOS 8, the bar is so mis-sized, that no toolbar items can be seen at all. The text is aligned almost all the way on the right side of the visible area.
