Description Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2014-08-27 15:11:15 UTC
When the Windows installer installs an update for Xamarin.Android, it force-restarts Visual Studio, discarding unsaved work.

Hi,

This issue is reproducible at our end. Below are the steps for the same:

1. Install the latest XVS, i.e. 3.5.55
2. Now launch VS for example VS 2012
3. Create any android application.
4. It displays the pop-up, stating Xamarin.Android updates available.
5. Now Download and Install updates.
6. Observe that it force closes the VS and then tries to install Updates

Expected result: It should not force close the VS, rather it should display the confirmation pop-up stating, in order to install the updates user needs to close VS, so that user can itself close the VS manually after saving his work. And then retry to install updates.

Apparently not yet fixed, but Daniel is saying that XVS doesn't need to close before updating XA anymore. Leaving as open until further notice.
