Description gtissington 2011-11-24 12:33:08 UTC
I'm trying to use monodevelop to push files to git.

I start bu using (Project Right click)/Version Control/Publish

Mon develop reports

Version control operation failed: Entry not found by path: ../../Card/Source/Card.cs. Entry not found by path: ../../Card/Source/Card.cs

This is a linked file from another source tree it does not exist under my project source tree.

The relative path is valid but in fact I don't really want this pushed to GIT as it is alread under version control in another repository.

Either way, the error aborts the "Publish" process. And I cannot manage this project with VCS.

How can I fix this problem?

This particular bug is now fixed in git. It's a bit late for 2.8.3/2.8.4 though so it should be available in the next release following 2.8.4.

Also a workaround for this issue would be to do the initial import with the commandline SVN client. Once that's done MonoDevelop should be able to manage the project properly.

I am writing some code that is going to be shared in Android and iOS projects... So I am keeping the shared files in a separate location from my projects.

I created an Android Library Project and tried "Add Existing Folder." When I tell MD to add the files as links, I get the following error:

System.InvalidOperationException: File outside the repository directory at MonoDevelop.VersionControl.Subversion.SubversionRepository.Add

In my particular case, I have the following directory structures:

My project is in a path like "/a/b/c"

My shared code is in a path like "/a/d/e" where "b" and "d" are in the "a" directory...

If I try to add the files again I get a message telling me that the links already exist, but they don't show up in the project until I close and reopen the solution.
