RESOLVED FIXED

Description Jatin 2011-11-24 03:39:59 UTC
Step To Reproduce:

1.Launch the MonoDevelop.
2.Click on "Start a New Solution" link.
3.Choose C# > Mono for Android in left hand panel.
4.Select Mono for Android Application from the center panel.
5.Enter more than 10 special characters(%%%$(()(, @#,,~) into Name field.
6.Click on "Ok" button.
7.Validation message display for the name field.
8.Click on OK button on the validation message pop up window.
9.Now delete the characters one by one and click on Ok button every time.
10. Observe that at some point it creates a solution.

Actual result:

After entering more than 10 special characters, validation message appears, but when we delete the characters one by one, at some point it creates a solution.

Observation:

1. Sometimes it creates a solution with a blank name. And when we right click on the solution name it shows the set of special characters entered while creating the solution.

2. Sometimes it creates a solution with the name of the previously created solution. And when we right click on the solution name it shows the set of special characters entered while creating the solution. Moreover, on the welcome screen, this solution's name appears as blank.

3. Sometimes it creates the solution with name of the set of special characters entered while creating the solution.

Expected result:

Solution should not get created when the user click on OK button after entering the special characters as the solution name.

Environment:
MonoDevelop 3.0 Beta-1 (2.9.0)
Mono for Android 4.0

The bug here is not about deleting and clicking ok, and doing so again and again creates the solution at some point.

In your project name ,you have a space in it.You delete characters one by one and click ok button, it will show validation message(that's correct) but when you delete space from the project name , it creates a solution. So, the actual bug here is that "it creates the solution even if you have special characters in its name".

I have submittes a patch regarding that error, that takes care of all the special characters while creating new project , and also added some tests for that.. I guess that will solve your problem
