RESOLVED FIXED

Comment 1 Jon Goldberger [MSFT] 2014-07-29 20:34:13 UTC
From case:

I’m using VS2013 and when I press on the “Publish iOS Application…” the
build server starts doing its job but it fails.

VS error is “Error 20 Failed to show the IPA file in
Finder on build server Xamarin.iOS”.

I took a look on the mtbserver.log on the mac and saw that line:

“[28-Jul-2014 17:53:28] Error: File
/Users/gadipaz/Library/Caches/Xamarin/mtbs/builds/AssistanceButton.iOS/9c04c3f7-ad72-4d70-a5f2-b63c6125e72e/output/AssistanceButton.iOS-1.0.0.ipa
NOT found.”

---------------------------
Good news: Finally I managed to upload the app to the appstore BUT there’s still a problem with this issue.
VS2013 tries to locate the IPA file in:
> /Users/gadipaz/Library/Caches/Xamarin/mtbs/builds/AssistanceButton.iOS/9c04c3f7-ad72-4d70-a5f2-b63c6125e72e/output/AssistanceButton.iOS-1.0.0.ipa
But the file is actually on on this path:
> /Users/gadipaz/Library/Caches/Xamarin/mtbs/builds/AssistanceButton.iOS/9c04c3f7-ad72-4d70-a5f2-b63c6125e72e/output/Release/iPhone/AssistanceButton.iOS-1.0.0.ipa

Note: I was not able to reproduce this issue exactly , as I never saw a circumstance where the .ipa was placed in the Release/iPhone directory asa noted above. However, I also note that building for the AppStore | iPhone configuration does _not_ generate an IPA file anywhere on my set up so I still get that error, but building Ad-Hoc|iPhone does generate the IPA file at the "correct" path, IOW _not_ in the iPhone/Release folder as noted above, but it does place it in the output folder. Then, if you build for Appstore after, the IPA is found and the Application Loader is launched as expected.

This part of the code has gone through a lot of work for performance and stability improvements and it's likely that the bug doesn't exist anymore. Marking as fixed for retesting.
