RESOLVED FIXED

Description Fredrik Haglund 2014-07-21 12:49:21 UTC
When I create a new blank Xamarin.Forms project in Visual Studio I get a compiler warning in Xamarin on OSX during compilation to native code.

warning MT0030: The executable name (FormsTemplateiOS.exe) and the app name (HelloForms3iOS.app) are different, this may prevent crash logs from getting symbolicated properly.

Environment:
Windows 8 in Parallels VM on OSX.
Visual Studio 2013 Update 2
Xamarine for Visual Studio 3.1.228.0

Steps:
* In Visual Studio, select File > New > Project.
* In the New Project Dialog that appears, click on Templates > Visual C# > Mobile Apps, and select the Blank App (Xamarin.Forms Portable) project
* Build All - No warning (VS is paired with Build Host)
* Open Solution in Xamarin on Mac
* Build All (Debug | iPhoneSumulator)

Expected: Should compile without errors or warnings.

Actual: Waring when compiling ios app:
warning MT0030: The executable name (FormsTemplateiOS.exe) and the app name (HelloForms3iOS.app) are different, this may prevent crash logs from getting symbolicated properly.

Workaround:
* Open Project Options for ios project.
* Go to section Output and change Assemby name from "FormsTemplateiOS" to match the generated app name "HelloForms3iOS".
?

The app name appears to be derived from Main Settings > Project Information > Name but dots (and I guess other invalid characters) are removed. Maybe change the template to generate projects without dots in project names is a good enough solution?

This should be already fixed in the current alpha or stable
