Description John Miller [MSFT] 2014-06-16 14:26:43 UTC
## Overview:

The Android Designer does not open a .axml layout when it is added to the project as a linked file.

## Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Create an Android project.
    2. Add a layout file (.axml) to the Resouces -> layout folder, but choose "Add as Link".
    3. Double-click the file or right-click->Open With -> Android Designer (default)

## Actual Results:

Double-clicking results in the file being opened as a text file (no designer/source tab).
Open With-> Android Designer results in an error message dialog: "The file cannot be opened with the selected editor. Please choose another editor."

## Expected Results:

The file should be opened in the Designer.

## Build Date & Platform:

    XVS 3.0

## Additional Information:

The same behavior happens in Xamarin Studio.

Tagged as feature enhancement, relatively corner case so not currently on our roadmap for a future release.

To be more precise, we do support other resources (like drawable) that are added as links. They will render correctly when referenced from a layout. What we don't support is initially loading a layout file that is itself a link.
