We just got rejected by the App Store for using the undocumented API applicationWillResignActive
We override UIApplication.OnResignActivation, which I assume binds through to this API.
applicationWillResignActive: is in their documentation. Is MonoTouch binding an undocumented version of this API?
We are using Mono 2.10.4, MonoTouch 4.0.7 and MonoDevelop 2.8, built on OS X Lion.
Apple starting using a tool on 10th November which scans your binaries for a list of strings of undocumented APIs, which are internal selectors (methods) on various classes in their frameworks.
This is a really blunt tool. It basically means that if you get a name clash which doesn't even have to be qualified by type then your application will be rejected. So for example if your class A implements a method 'foo', and 'foo' is an undocumented method on some framework class, then your app will be rejected. In this case foo is 'applicationWillResignActive'.
MonoTouch is putting the 'applicationWillResignActive' string into the binary in a long list of APIs which presumably form part of our interop layer:
$cache7 [clipped] ApplicationWillResignActive [clipped] <>f__am$cache16<>f__am
We have identified the name clash in our objective-C library and will change the name and resubmit.
