Description softlion 2014-04-02 09:57:58 UTC
Since the Xamarin february update, after CTRL-F5 (or deploy+run) from visual studio, if the app was already running in the simulator, the new version of the app is deployed and run, but a black screen appears quite immediatly and won't go away.

A solution is to kill the app from within the simulator, the tap the app's icon.
Another solution is to kill the app from within the simulator before CRL-F5.

This behavior appears in both simulator ios 7 and 7.1

Can you try debugging your project using Xamarin Studio on the Mac, and see if you get the same behaviour?
Comment 2 softlion 2014-04-02 14:03:48 UTC
I tryed this afternoon with the help o guys on jabbr mvvmcross channel, and get the same behavior.
Comment 3 softlion 2014-04-02 14:04:19 UTC
Same behavior with Xamarin Studio mac.
Comment 4 Rolf Bjarne Kvinge [MSFT] 2014-04-03 12:28:31 UTC
Good, that narrows it down a bit. I still need more information though:

* Does it happen with any project, or just one in particular (i.e. what happens if you create a new project from a template - does that show the same behaviour?)

* Can you paste/attach the version information from Xamarin Studio's About menu (all the information shown when clicking on the Details button)?

* Is anything printed to the Application Output when the app goes dark and won't start properly?

* Is anything printed to the system Console (you can find it in Applications/Utilities/Console, select the All messages node on the upper left side) when the app goes dark and won't start properly?
Comment 5 softlion 2014-04-03 13:33:06 UTC
* it happens with every project, event hello world
* it happens with every version of the simulator

* Application Output / sytem console
The log shows that the app is running fine. There are no new line in sytem console.
If i tap the app icon in the simulator (after killing the app in the simulator), it start correctly without black screen.
killing the app = pressing home key twice and swiping it away.

This happen randomly using Xcode too. Apple's simulator support since Xcode5 has been a bit flaky.
