RESOLVED FIXED

Description René Ruppert 2014-03-28 03:54:12 UTC
The instructor script says to add System.Data and Mono.Data.Sqlite references to the Lab 01 Android project but they are already there.
Either adjust script or project.
Comment 1 Adam Patridge [MSFT] 2014-04-10 23:16:05 UTC
This also affects the Lab 01 student docs, along with a couple other simple typos in that same set of steps.

The script and labs have students start by immediately building and running the project to make sure everything is working. Unfortunately, even with those two references already added, the project will not compile successfully until after uncommenting step 1 (needs `CreateConnection`).

To get it all to make the most sense, I'm thinking it may be best to remove the references from the student and instructor code but change the student labs to compile and run after step 1. It feels like a good thing to walk the students through the references so they know the Sqlite stuff isn't automatically available to new projects. I will also add a note in the instructor script to have the class build at that point as a smoke test to make sure everything is working for everyone before they get too far along.

I'll put together a version that goes that route in a branch before I commit, should there need to be any discussion tomorrow.

Suggested updates in "XAM160-Bug18630" branch on both XamU repos. If we like what's there, we just need to merge/rebase onto master.

## Changes

Lab 01 code:
* Removed references to Mono.Data.Sqlite and System.Data since they are added as a step in the lab docs.

Lab 01 docs:
* Moved compile/run request to after uncommenting step 1 (wouldn't compile without it).
* [unrelated] Fixed a couple typos around project names and inaccurate syntax highlighting.
* Generated new Lab 01 PDF.

Instructor Lab 01 code:
* Removed references to Mono.Data.Sqlite and System.Data since they are added as a step in the script.

Instructor script:
* Mentioned student compile/run after uncommenting step 1 and added note to wait for questions.

Go ahead and make those changes Adam - then create a pull request in Git and I'll verify. Thanks!

Submitted on GitHub (after a fix for a reference oops to the instructor code).
Comment 5 Mark Smith 2014-04-12 13:38:27 UTC
Updated the lab materials with Adam's fixes + a few minor word changes and more context in the script so you can type in the code from the instructor starter solution.
