When I try to run my updates after Xamarin has downloaded the required files, I see this error, and VS closes.

It says It "Can´t open the instalation file. Check the file exists and permissions".

I am wondering if this is to do with this other bug I opened (https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=18203) regarding my windows user name folder.

I´m using windows 8. My user name folder is "César", and the accent has given me 1 thousand problems. I had to change xamarin environment installation variable, and change the folders so I could run visual studio with xamarin.

Do you think this could be related as well?

I´m still trying to work with my 30day trial license, but I´ve spent more time trying to make it work than working with it...

I´ve also attached the monodroid.log just in case.

After I click accept, visual studio closes.

I have checked this issue and I have tried it three times on two machines but unable to reproduce it.
I have updated Xamarin.Android version from 4.12.1 to 4.12.2 in stable channel.

1. Open "VS2013"
2. Navigate to Tools->Options->Xamarin->Android/iOS
3. Click on "check update". It will download the update.

Environment
windows 7/ 8
VS2013
Xamarin.Android: 4.12.2
Xamarin.iOS: 1.10.47

Please let me know if I am missing anything here.

Hi...

Thanks for your mail. But my problem is I already have the package dowloaded. When I click install, it throws that exception saying the file is missing, and then visual studio closes.

HAve you checked running it whith a user name with accents in user folder?

Also I had to modify the environment path variable ANDROID_NDK_PATH to be able to run properly xamarin.

Please let me know if you discover any way to fix this.

Thanks

Hi cmarrades,

Could you please check if this issue is still happening with the very latest released version? If yes, then please attached VS logs via VS->Help->Xamarin->Zip Xamarin logs.

thanks!!

I'm closing this as no further information has been provided and we cannot reproduce similar issues with latest stable builds. Please feel free to reopen if the problem recurs.
