ios app will build, deploy and run only once in ios 7 simulator.
Step to reproduce:
- Start with VS2013 and an ios project.
- Build and start debugging on ios 7 simulator (from vs2013).
- Stop debugging by killing the app on the simulator (long press home then slide up the app).
- Try to start debugging on ios 7 simulator (from vs2013).
Version: latest with 7.0.7 hotfix from last friday.
Also, if while debugging in ios7 simulator (through vs2013) the app process stops unexpectedly, VS2013 stays blocked, and the message "Visual Studio is busy" is displayed. Only way to get out is to kill the VS2013 process.
Also, to get the system to work again, the xamarin build host must be restarted before restarting VS2013. Otherwise nothing happens on next debug.
Also, stopping Xamarin Build Host while a build is still in progress on VS2013 prevent VS2013 from closing. Also you can not cancel the build, even if Xamarin Build Host is closed.
Also, after VS2013 is stuck in "build" mode (and you have to kill its process), if you restart it, it says the build host is connected to another visual studio. You have to stop/start build host, the reconnect VS2013.
If you then build, VS will stop responding in builing mode. You must stop both VS2013 and the build host, then restart the build host, then restart visual studio.
And you have to do this each time your app fails ...... 30 times per day ?!
I have checked this issue and followed steps as mentioned in bug description
I am not able to reproduce this issue. Refer screen cast: http://screencast.com/t/t55dTFlLpT
X iOS 1.10.39
Xamarin Build Host: 7.0.7 hotfix
Let me know if I am missing any thing.
Hrm, it seems like Benjamin is reporting an issue with the 1.12 builds, but those haven't been released anywhere.
Benjamin can you confirm the MTVS version you're using?
I have checked this on below environments:
X iOS 1.12.217
X iOS Build Host 220.127.116.11
I followed steps mentioned in bug description but unable to reproduce issue. Refer screen cast: http://screencast.com/t/pEhbAaV39BiW.
unable to checked the comment 2 due to depend upon above issue.
Also I check comment 3 on same environments but unable to reproduce. Refer screen cast: http://screencast.com/t/HpdHVxa1A. unable to check comment 4 as it depends upon comment 3.
Can you please provide some more details so that I can check these issues at our end.
It is a cascade of problems, the reproduce steps won't reproducte the problem.
The first problem was this bug: https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17898
After this bug is triggered, if you have fixed your project, vs2013 stays in "build" mode and won't let you stop debugging or even close its window.
The same can happen without this bug with these steps:
- start debugging an ios project from VS2013 on ios7 simulator
- when the app is running in the simulator, kill it (using shift+home+H then swipe up its window).
After killing the app, debugging on vs won't stop and you won't be able to close its window.
Even if you restart VS2013, the project won't deploy/debug again.
To workaround this bug, you have to to things in this order: force close vs2013, close xamarin build host, restart xamarin build host, restart visual studio. Then deployment/debugging will work again.
fixed in latest version
