Description david 2014-02-14 17:28:17 UTC
Description of Problem:

Added Droid project to MVVMCross application. App is running well on iOS 6+.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Compile app for Droid
2. Deploy to Droid => error requiring Business Licence.

Actual Results:

/Users/davidd/Documents/Projects/C#/MyProject/MyProject.Droid: Error XA9003: Assembly `System.ServiceModel, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35` requires Business (or higher) License. (XA9003) (ShimanoSocial.Droid)

Expected Results:

App should run using Indie edition.

How often does this happen?

Every time.

Additional Information:

This makes no sense from a developer's perspective. I'm not using anything (that I'm aware of) in the Droid app that doesn't already work in the Touch app. The error stems from MVVMCross referencing System.ServiceModel, but it does this on ALL platforms. I'm not against buying a Business licence, but I don't think it's fair to have to do so for Droid when we don't for Touch.

I recall some thread in the forums claiming that the latest Xamarin Studio would fix this issue; I've just upgraded to the newly-released 4.2.3 and it's still not fixed. Do I need to wait for a further upgrade?

This fix is in Xamarin.Android, not Xamarin.Studio. I'm not sure what version but I suspect it's in the 4.12 alpha.

My Xamarin.Android is at 4.8. Is there a way to go to Alpha on Android but stay at Stable on iOS when using Xamarin Studio? Or do I need 2 versions of Xamarin Studio for that? (I am already running a second Xamarin Studio on Windows, primarily as an experiment to see if it will fix this issue, but since that doesn't appear to support NuGet packages I'm unable to test like-for-like to see if it works).

Thanks for your help.
