Goes away after a few minutes by itself
Comment 2 Fredy Wenger 2014-08-08 03:51:28 UTC
I have installed the latest update to xamarin for windows yesterday (3.3.47).
=> The bug is still here!
  - The MAC (with started Build Host) was running over night
  - I start my Windows-developer-machine
  - The first debug-session was running
=> After that, the error message (Another instance...) was showed automatically
=> That's very annoying!

I have checked this issue and able to reproduce it. I have checked it with following steps :
1. Create an iOS app.
2. Deploy it on iOS Simulator.
3. Stop the app.
4. Change the mac mode into sleep mode.
5. Clean build and then again deploy the app on iOS simulator.

I get the error "Another instance of visual studio is using build host.." whether only single VS2013 was open at my end.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 18660 ***
Comment 5 PJ 2014-10-30 19:32:54 UTC
Comment 3 looks like a duplicate of bug 18660, but doesn't match the description of this bug or comment 2.

Shruti, if you can reproduce the behavior in this bug, please update and set back to CONFIRMED, but for now I am going to set it to NEEDINFO for you to provide another update based on the steps in this bug.

I have checked this issue. Observation is mentioned below :

Case 1 :
1. Create an iPhone app on VS and deploy it on simulator.
2. Restart window System.
3. Open VS and then open same application which was deployed last time.
Note: At this time, Mac system is in sleep mode
4. Now, I run the app and got 'Another Instance...." error.

Case 2 :
1. Create an iPhone app on VS and deploy it on simulator.
2. Restart window System.
3. Open VS and then open same application which was deployed last time.
Note: At this time, Mac system is in active mode
4. Now, I run the app.
5. App is deployed successfully on simulator without raising any error.
6. Now System goes in sleep mode. Build host connectivity get disconnected and error message appeared 'Another Instance.....'

@Andy, @Fredy
Can you please go through Case 1 and Case 2 and let us know Is this the same issue you are facing. If not, Please provide us issue description in detail.
Comment 7 Shruti 2014-10-31 10:11:47 UTC

Xamarin 3.7.248.0
Xamarin.iOS 8.4.0.0
Comment 8 Jose Gallardo 2016-12-22 17:38:48 UTC
Marking as resolved fixed, as the mechanism to connect VS with the Mac has been improved and implemented over SSH.
Please feel free to reopen the issue if you can still reproduce it with current bits.
Thanks!
