I use openSUSE (currently 12.1 RC1) and monodevelop will be somehow important in my future. Currently monodevelop 2.8.1 displays a non-fatal error when starting up (because it can't find GNOME2 platform? openSUSE ditched GNOME2 and is using GNOME3).
This is somehow a joy breaker and it becomes annoying. A potential solution is to add 'libgnomeui' (still provided by openSUSE) to the package requirements. I've tested it on a custom build on OBS and it does work.

We have no plans to move to gtk 3 in the foreseeable future but if you wish to submit patches to ease the porting effort when we eventually move, that would be great.
