Description Andy 2013-11-15 04:51:58 UTC
The only way to make the updater popup is to open a project in VS. When it pops up, no matter what I try to do, I can't close nor kill the instance of devenv (VS) that launched the updater. So as a last instance, I indicate 'a reboot will be required'. This won't work either, the installer is stuck with a dialog which says it needs to close VS.

i.e.: there is no proper way to update !!!
Comment 1 Andy 2013-11-15 04:53:22 UTC
In fact, the only way to kill that devenv, is to quit the updater.

As part of this, and many other installation problems, can you provide an public updater link directly somewhere accessible ?
For the installer, one has to dig them up by logging in in the store (why in the store ??). By the way, there, the user image is hidden on the right for less than huge monitor resolutions.

I probably had to uninstall and re-download the installer at least 20 times in the recent year, to work around bugs. If the whole installation/update process is still flimsy and hotfixes are needed, it would make life easier for the user to provide easy access to installers and updaters, with versioning and all.

Andy,

Here are URLs for the latest beta channel updates (you need to install both of them if you use both Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android):

http://download.xamarin.com/MonoTouchforVisualStudio/Windows/Xamarin.iOS_Setup-1.10.19.0_signed.msi

http://download.xamarin.com/MonoforAndroid/Windows/mono-android-4.10.02010.msi

Marking as resolved fixed.
Please feel free to reopen the issue if you can still reproduce it with current bits.
Thanks!
