Description Chris Hardy [MSFT] 2011-10-20 09:15:07 UTC
Strange as it may seem, things that blink has a very negative effect on my ability to concentrate. Windows allows setting the cursor blink rate to zero. MonoDevelope bypasses this Windows setting. Please provide a means to stop the blinking. MonoDevelope otherwise looks great.

Thanks, Gordon.

Technically a GTK Windows integration issue, MD gets the rate from GTK.
Comment 3 Gordon 2011-10-31 15:15:43 UTC
In C# code the Windows CaretBlinkTime can be set :
-----------------------------
using System.Runtime.InteropServices;
...
[DllImport( "user32.dll" )]
public static extern int SetCaretBlinkTime( int wMSeconds );
[DllImport( "user32.dll" )]
public static extern int GetCaretBlinkTime();
------------------------------------
Does the Gtk# have a way to set the Caret/Cursor rate in code or otherwaise?

Yes, here's the GTK+ docs, it can also be set from GTK# code or gtkrc configuration files:

http://developer.gnome.org/gtk/2.24/GtkSettings.html#GtkSettings--gtk-cursor-blink-time

There's also gtk-cursor-blink for disabling the blink entirely.
