Description Jeff Hamm 2011-10-19 13:18:25 UTC
An issue that has been around for a while and seems to be included in the trunk as well.

An example is: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=325511

The error message is:
.libs/image.o: relocation R_X86_64_PC32 against
`gdip_load_gif_image_from_file' can not be used when making a shared object;
recompile with -fPIC

When compiling on with gcc on linux (pretty much any version) with --without-libgif configured.

The solution is to include the header for the case where HAVE_LIBGIF is _not_ defined.

Move #include "gifcodec.h" before #ifdef HAVE_LIBGIF.

The same goes for --without-jpeg, --without-png and --without-tiff.

IMHO, better to include the declarations than change compiler settings or add pre-processor.
