Description Joseph Hill 2011-08-02 13:03:35 UTC
MonoTouch projects currently include *.xib files as resources with a Page build action.

This is a problem because Visual Studio expects Page project items to be XAML, and requires projects that include them to be WPF or Silverlight projects. This means that, even if we install the MonoTouch flavor GUID in VS, you still cannot build a MonoTouch project in VS without making changes to the project files.

Making this change was previously put off since it would break existing projects for older versions of the iPhone add-in; however, we should take the opportunity offered by the project changes required for Xcode 4 to fix this.

Do you have any suggestions for the new build action?
Comment 3 Joseph Hill 2011-08-02 18:21:24 UTC
I would be fine with Xib, but I defer to you guys.

I think the main requirement is that it needs to work in VS, and otherwise not conflict with other Build Actions. Let me know if there is something I'm not thinking of, though.

Xib is a bad name, since it applies to storyboards and nibs too.
Comment 5 Joseph Hill 2011-08-02 19:08:05 UTC
Some suggestions:
UI
UX
InterfaceBuilder
InterfaceDefinition
MibTool

Perhaps they'll inspire you to come up with something better.
Comment 6 Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2011-08-02 19:26:46 UTC
InterfaceDefinition sounds good, it's long but explicit, and most users wont have to care what it is anyway.
Comment 7 Mike Krüger 2011-08-09 04:29:27 UTC
fixed - InterfaceDefinition is the best I think.
Comment 9 Alan McGovern 2011-09-01 15:14:51 UTC
This has been fixed so i suppose there's no point in keeping this open.
