Screen shot showing stupid sub menus

I don't know about you guys, but I switch platform targets constantly. Like, once I have a green build and I manually cycle through a variety of platforms for testing.

This means that I'm very sensitive to the usability of those combo boxes at the top of XS.

In 4.1.10, the device selection box has become very annoying. There are now 1,000,001 submenus to navigate to get what I want.

I used to be able to change targets with one gesture:

1. Mouse down on the combo
2. Drag to the target I want
3. Release

Now I have to do this:

1. Mouse down on the combo
2. Find the target I want (you also list invalid targets)
3. Wait for the submenu to appear
4. Very carefully drag right so as to not lose my main selection
5. Notice that the sub menus have a bug and don't track my held mouse (GDK!!!!)
6. Let go only to have the menu close without selecting anything
7. Mouse down on the combo (again)
8. Find the target I want (again)
9. Wait for the submenu to appear (again)
10. Let go of the mouse (<-- critical step due to menu bugs)
11. Very carefully move right so as to not lose my main selection
12. Click on the submenu

Now, if my small brain could remember all the GDK menu bugs, and I wasn't always hyped up on caffeine, I'm sure I could eliminate steps (1-6) and get this process down to just twice as long as the original.

Guys, UX rule of thumb: HIERARCHY IS BAD! Every time you introduce it, a beautiful little bird dies. Because I shot it. Out of frustration.

Additional gripe: Why have sub menus of only one item? Note the screen shot. Even if you love hierarchy, you have to admit that branches with single leaves should just be leaves themselves.

Oh, I don't see submenus in Xcode: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6908183/Screen%20Shot%202013-09-08%20at%2012.27.55%20PM.png

While you're in there messing with the menu, would you mind making its height taller?

As things stand, the menu always scrolls in a fixed height area even though there is tons of screen real estate below it.

I don't get to specify a menu size, that is calculated by gtk.

fixed in git master - if there is only 1 iPhone Simulator SDK installed, it doesn't use submenus anymore.
