RESOLVED NORESPONSE

Description René Ruppert 2011-10-11 11:02:28 UTC
I'm debugging MT 4.2.1, DEBUG build, SGen enabled.
Randomly the app gets stuck and I see this output:

* Assertion at ../../../../../mono/mono/metadata/domain.c:366, condition `left == right' not met

* Assertion at ../../../../../mono/mono/metadata/domain.c:333, condition `left < right' not met

* Assertion at ../../../../../mono/mono/metadata/domain.c:333, condition `left < right' not met

Sgen is experimental and has several known issues. Until we've reached past the experimental status, problems are to be expected.

That said, do you have a test case you could attach? That way we have more applications to test sgen with.
Comment 2 René Ruppert 2011-10-18 14:35:43 UTC
Unfortunately not. But I checked the Mono repository on Github and found a comment exactly referring to this issue. The comment says something like "removed assertions" and also talked about SGEN. The line where the assertions above come from do not contain any asserts anymore. I will retry to build with the next MT release and see if sGen has improved there.

btw: sGen is going to be a compacting GC, right?
Comment 3 Rolf Bjarne Kvinge [MSFT] 2011-10-18 16:04:56 UTC
Yes, sgen is a compacting GC, but don't expect any significant changes in MT 5.0 (we're working on it, but for a later release).
