Description Curtis 2013-08-13 11:18:22 UTC
Visual Studio is taking trips to Never-Never land… I just noticed this in the last few days. Visual Studio 2012 is Locking up when adding breakpoints to a running Xamarin.iOS project.

1. Open Visual Studio 2012
2. Load an iOS project
3. Run the project on an iOS device using the debugger in Visual Studio
4. While code is running, add a breakpoint somewhere in the project
5. At step 4, above, my Visual Studio 2012 usually locks up.
6. I usually end up having to 'End Process' from Task Manager in order to close Visual Studio.

This is becoming very annoying.

Hello Curtis,

I am unable to reproduce the issue you've mentioned above using our current stable builds of Xamarin iOS, and Xamarin iOS for VS. Could you please provide the build information you're experiencing this behavior on?

You can find build info in VS by going up to Help -> About Microsoft Visual Studio
and in Xamarin Studio on the mac by going to Xamarin Studio -> About Xamarin Studio

There was a known issue in the SDB support libraries used to integrate with the debugger. We should review that to make sure we are shipping those fixes.

Tested with latest version, still unable to repro. race condition?

This is likely to be the commit that fixed the issue. This has been shipped in the last few releases of XamarinVS so I'm closing this: https://github.com/mono/debugger-libs/commit/7be9a43afd9a57496fd3fe56177544a68a863f58
