RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 9179

Description Peter Collins 2013-08-12 12:54:29 UTC
Immediately clicking on "Stop Debugging" while the remote build is in process does not cancel the build, and will still deploy the application to device / simulator and start a debugging session [0]

If the user attempts to start and stop debugging a few times in quick succession, the application and debugging sessions are restarted repetitively. This also resulted in an exception being thrown in VS [1].

We should likely either disable the "stop debugging" button until the application is deployed and the debugging session is successfully started, or, if possible, properly kill the build / debugging processes in this scenario.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open or create an XIVS project.
2) Connect to a build host, and start debugging.
3) Stop debugging while the remote build is occurring.
4) Repeat steps 2) and 3) a few times.

Jarina, I don't believe we are issuing any commands to cancel the build after we've initiated the remote build. That would certainly give the best UX.

Having said that, Peter's suggestion of disabling the stop debugging button, may be the quicker fix for now, until we have time to implement the better UX later.

Still seeing this behavior in the latest on the 1.6-series branch. Potentially related Build Cancellation bug is Bug #14015.
Comment 3 Vinicius Jarina 2013-10-09 22:32:56 UTC
This is the dup of #9179

We are not issuing any CancellBuild command.

Dominique should we start this rightn now? I think we should add this to master only. (not 1.6)
