the solution as it appears in Xamarin.Studio

Description of Problem:

I am working on a project taking the form of a solution made of about 30 library projects
and a number of test and utility applications.

Some of the projects make reference to a larger number of lower level assemblies.

Compiling those highly dependent projects takes up 12+ seconds on my iMac, depending on the number of their references,
even when he build involves no compilation of their source files.

I also have WPF/W8 VS.Net 2012 versions of the solution, and
the same operations on the equivalent projects are much faster.
Building the complete solution when it is uptodate takes no time with VS.Net
and about 15s with Xamarin.Studio.

This friction is due to the fact that when a project is compiled, its refererenced projects are checked each time.
Building the solution makes many of its projects be checked several times, up to 7 times for some of them.
I have tried replacing the references to projects by references to the assemblies they produce, and the update time
of the complete solution then goes down to 2-3 seconds.

This causes a real productivity problem when working on quite big projects like mine.

Wouldn't it be possible to propose a 'fast build mode' which would consider not the referenced projects but the assemblies
they produce when building/checking a solution or one of its projects?

I have made more tests against similar solutions using Xamarin.Studio 4.0.10 on OSX
- MonoMac and Xamarin.iOS: the build process is very fast
- Xamarin.Android: same very low speed problem as on Windows
