Parts of the text editor are often painted back when the window is re-focused.
I think it has to do with a gtk issue - I think that started with the overlay scrollbars.
We're not using double buffers ourself any longer btw.
It doesn't affect the GTK treeview though.
Look at the drawing code - I do not draw anything black there and redraw, that doesn't make sense.
But I know that the black painting started when we switched to the overlay scrollbars. AFAIR I complained about that at that time.
Yeah they have a partial redraw but they show the background color so it's not so obvious - http://screencast.com/t/I5quCEWqA.
y I know - but I set the background color correctly in the text editor - I tried to set the bg color/base color of all state types in all controls that are remotely part of the text editor - no success in changing the 'black' redraw :(
